SAFETEL SAFETEL – Safe Electromagnetic Telecommunications on VehiclesSAFETEL research project (completes April 2006) aims to improve the robustness of motor vehicles against electro magnetic (EM) disturbances providing advanced tools for prediction, design and testing.
The application of the results will improve the road safety and support the competition of the European automotive industry. SAFETEL is aimed at achieving a higher level of safety than current standards against internal and external EM environment. The Project will define a simulation and test strategy and provide an advanced set of design tools to guarantee the proper functioning of electronic equipment in the presence of new complex receivers and transmitters such as GPS, GSM, Bluetooth and Time Modulated Ultra Wideband.
SAFETEL aims also to the objective of the Transport Thematic Priority, developing production environment specific to surface transport, based on the innovative use of advanced design and manufacturing.
The project objectives are to:
The research team includes leading transport industries and automotive research organizations. All the consortium partners are active members of national and international standardization organizations such as CENELEC and ISO.
